With height of 1955m, Mountain Tsurugisan is the second highest
in Shikoku region. Name of this spiritual mountain is said
to come from a legend that ancient Emperor Antoku hid his
sword (Tsurugi) in the mountain.
The spring water spouts out from bottom of 50m giant rock
nearby mountaintop. Water volume is modest, and so rich in
calcium its taste is adored by alpinists.
The area is also known for one of Japan's 3 mysterious bridges,
"Vine bridge of Iya", over upstream of Iya river
that runs through neighboring village.
